Learn about our effort for education in Brazil
In partnership with PLAN International and Fritz Henkel Stiftung, Pritt has created a project to improve the educational environment for children in Codó, Brazil, by building and renovating safe, fun and exciting new schools for them. Pritt has constructed and renovated two schools, along with providing basic necessities and equipment.
Building schools, building chances
The project took place in Codó, more specifically in the municipality of Mata Virgem and Boqueirão dos Vieiras, where more than half the children there do not go to school. Moreover, the quality of education at primary schools in these areas is not adequate, the teachers are poorly trained and they lack child-friendly teaching and learning materials.
Pritt believes that access to quality education is the driving force of human development. As a supportive brand in the different educational stages of children, Pritt is actively engaged in building a fair and egalitarian social reality in areas of the world with unprivileged educational conditions. To this end, Pritt puts into action its commitment to education by helping these children with severe academic deficiencies.
Building schools, building safety
"Learning never exhausts the mind." – Leonardo da Vinci
School is the second home of every child in the world. And homes need to be safe. Health, creativity and happiness bloom better in a safe environment. For this reason, Pritt equipped the schools with single-sex bathrooms, new tables and chairs, and swings and slides in the playground. We also installed fans in the school, to provide a comfortable learning environment during the hottest months. By building schools, we are building safety.
Building schools, creating opportunities
“Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day; teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime.” – Maimonides
Pritt wants children to grow up in a world with equal opportunities. A world where they can become policemen, firemen, teachers or whatever they dream to be. We don’t want kids worrying about race, gender or violence. And that’s why we think they need to be encouraged to dream, to do great things. Just because they can. So we gave workshops to families about the importance of sending their kids to school. We truly believe that by building schools we are creating opportunities.
Building schools, building values
“Education breeds confidence. Confidence breeds hope. Hope breeds peace.” - Confucius
Most of the students in schools in Codó are eager to learn how to express their opinions. We don’t want their eyes to miss the dreams that can lead any child to become the adult they want to be. Teachers have the chance to instil that knowledge and self-confidence in their minds. For this reason, Pritt provides training to the teachers so that they can help children develop these traits. Besides, we wanted girls to feel safe and valued when going to school, as the lack of toilets is sometimes a reason for non-attendance. We are committed to their right to a great education.
Building schools, building happiness
"Learning is a treasure that will follow its owner everywhere." – Chinese Proverb
Happiness is the main goal for people all around the world. All kids need to know what real happiness is. We want the children of Codó to know better than anyone else what the loudest laugh sounds like. How can we achieve that? By building physical happiness for them. So Pritt created a playground with a field and a swing for their princess fantasies, treasure hunts and detective mysteries. By building schools, we are creating happiness.
Building school, building smiles
“Everyone smiles in the same language.” - Mr. Pritt
The most important function of education is to teach children important values such as friendship. Because through playing with each other, they learn from each other. It’s for that reason that Pritt has built and renovated schools in the type of environment every child deserves to learn in. An environment created to explore in, to play in, and even to fall down in; an environment to grow up in. After all, we believe that by building schools we are building smiles. And that’s the result we want to see in the future, with Pritt raising awareness about intercultural differences among children all over the world.
